Why “Get Out of Your Comfort Zone” Is Lazy Business Advice

Can we talk about how every business problem is apparently solved by "getting out of your comfort zone"?

Not enough clients? Get out of your comfort zone.
Need more sales? Get out of your comfort zone.
Want to grow your business? Get out of your comfort zone.

Maybe.

I don't think the issue is that most business owners are too comfortable. I think they're uncomfortable with the wrong things.

Starting over with a new offer feels exciting. Buying another course feels productive. Trying the latest marketing strategy feels like progress. Following up with the prospect who ghosted you? Not so much.

Raising your prices? Uncomfortable. Hiring before you're completely overwhelmed? Also, uncomfortable. Looking at your numbers every month? Nobody's posting about that on LinkedIn.

The problem isn't that you're avoiding discomfort. It's that you're choosing the kind of discomfort that feels exciting over the kind that actually builds a business.

Growth rarely comes from chasing something new. More often, it comes from doing the same unglamorous things consistently, even when they're awkward, repetitive, or boring.

That's where businesses are built.
