The Biggest Bottleneck in Your Business Might be you
The most expensive employee in your business might be... you. That probably sounds ridiculous. After all, you're the owner. Of course you're working in the business.
But hear me out.
Every time you answer an email that someone else could answer...
Every time you chase an invoice...
Every time you solve a problem your team could have handled...
Every time you're the only person who knows where a file is, how a process works, or what happens next...
You're spending your time on work that isn't actually growing your business.
I see this all the time with event business owners. They tell me they're too busy to work on sales, marketing, networking, building systems, reviewing their numbers, or planning for growth. Then I ask them what they did all day.
They spent it answering emails, updating timelines, fixing small issues, checking in with vendors, and putting out fires that probably shouldn't have existed in the first place.
Here's the hard truth.
If you're doing work that someone on your team, a freelancer, or even a simple system could do, you're making yourself the bottleneck. Your business doesn't grow because you work more hours. It grows when you spend more of your time on the work that only you can do. That's where the biggest return is.
So here's my question for you.
What's one task you know you should stop doing, but you're still holding onto?
